| So, I'm leaving for China in two days (Monday one day, Tuesday two day) so this is pretty much going to be my last entry for another year. I am switching to www.freewebs.com/schwabtogo because Xanga is really hard to access in China. So check there if you want to see what's going on and find pictures and video from my life over there. I thought I'd leave everyone with a conversation my mother had with me while we were having lunch at Red Lobster.
Mom: Your hair doesn't even look real. It looks like a wig. Seriously, who has that much hair???
Me: Um, this is my real hair. Thanks.
Awkward pause for a few minutes.
Mom: I know why your hair looks so familiar- it looks like Tracy's from "Hairspray"!!!!
Me: I'm pretty sure it doesn't.
But I'll let you be the judge:

And here's Tracy:

Riiiight.
Anyway, don't forget me while I'm gone, you guys had better keep in touch mmmk? I'm psyched to be going back, but I don't want to miss out too much on what's happening over here.
Best of luck, xanga people, I'll see you next year.
| Oh man, jury duty is finally over. The good news is that, for every day after 5 that you spend in trial, you get $50. So that's something at least. I'm leaving in one week exactly. Crazy. Where the heck did the summer go?!!??
In other news, my grandmother was admitted to the hospital for complications from diabetes, so it's sad times. She'll be there for at least a week, maybe longer so I'm not too jazzed about that, it's really stressful for the rest of my family and I don't want anything else to happen while I'm in China, so I'm stressed too. I came across this quote from George Muller that seems appropriate:
The beginning of anxiety is the end of faith and the beginning of true faith is the end of anxiety.
Intruiging. | | |
| This has been a boring and somewhat tiring week. Every day is jury duty, and every hour there feels like an eternity. Many of my fellow jurors have fallen asleep, but I'm proud to say that I haven't given in to the sweet release of sleep yet. The trial should be over on Tuesday so hopefully I'll be done by then. We'll see.
In other news, I am leaving in 10 days to go back to China. This seems too short, since I still had some stuff I wanted to do and people I wanted to see. It's definitely gone by too fast.
Not cool, summer, not cool.
I've also gotten sucked into watching "Power of Ten" on CBS- I am literally glued to the television every time that it's on. Drew Carey is back and funnier than I remember him, so it's good times. Hmmm, what else.....I'm behind in redoing my lesson plans and getting stuff together for my classes.
I blame jury duty. | | |
| So, I got selected for jury duty yesterday, and today I officially started my career as Juror Number 2 (Assistant Jury Foreperson). Today in court, two people were late and four fell asleep during the trial; including the CLERK.
It is not exciting.

| Lately, a number of things have been making my eye twitch. First and foremost, my family. If I am sitting down with an open book in front of me, it is not because I want to talk to you, it's because I want to read the book in front of me. Just wanted to clear that up.
Second, if said book is Harry Potter, I really don't want you to tell me the end of it. Maybe I should tell that to my students WHO E-MAILED ME THE END OF THE BOOK. THANKS, KIDS! That is so not cool. Not like I'm obsessed with them or anything, but I kind of wanted to find out ON MY OWN. Dang kids.
Third, if you are going to call me back, just do it and not putz around. Not cool.
and fourth, I have jury duty on Monday and I can't get out of it. My plan now is to say really controversial things when they start asking me questions. We'll see how that goes.
